All Jory MHC providers are queer- and trans-affirming practitioners. We have extensive training in trauma-informed care and value personal and professional work that focuses on social justice and restoration.

  • Simone Gotter Nagle, LCSW

    Simone (she/her) opened Jory MHC after a decade of working in community-based mental health programs with the goal of creating a center where people can connect, feel a sense of belonging, and find meaning and purpose in life. She works with individuals coping with depression, substance abuse, grief and loss, relational difficulties, and recovery from abuse and trauma. Simone offers a strengths-based approach and values building a relationships that are genuine and compassionate.

  • Erin Beery, LCSW

    Erin (she/her) is a queer clinician with over 15 years of experience advocating for adolescents, women, and the LGBTQI+ community on goals relating to anxiety, depression, identity, trauma, transitions, attachment, and grief and loss. Erin is strengths-based and client-centered, and advocates for clients with warmth and humor in an open setting. Erin brings a systems perspective and works to integrate principles of empowerment, harm reduction, and social justice. Erin also serves as Jory's Clinical Supervisor for CSWAs and MSW interns.

  • Veronica Marquez Barba, MSW CSWA

    Veronica (she/her) joined Jory MHC to support children and adolescents through creative and effective interventions. Veronica is great at connecting with children, teens, and their families by offering a caring relationship focused on emotion regulation, problem solving, and skill building. She has experience working with youth in schools, crisis support, child welfare system, and community outreach. Veronica is bilingual in Spanish and English and appreciates supporting BIPOC youth of all ages.

  • Rachel Spooner, MSW CSWA

    Rachel (she/her) has years of exerience working with children, teens, and young adults in intensive and outpatient treatment. She has passion for working with teens and young adults and enjoys working with people experiences life transition. Rachel recognizes the importance of a supportive space where clients navigate life’s difficult experiences. She works with young people experiencing anxiety, depression, adjustment, relationship conflicts, recovery from trauma and abuse, disordered eating, and attention struggles.

  • Valenca Valenzuela, MSW CSWA

    Valenca (she/her) focuses on supporting teens and adults experiencing grief and loss and brings a grief-informed practice to her work with clients and to our team at Jory. Valenca will be specializing in anxiety, existential therapy and death anxiety, life transitions, trauma recovery, intergenerational trauma, family systems, and group therapy work.

    Valenca also has extensive experience in training providers and teams about the experiences of grief and loss and is available for consultations around grief and projects or trainings around the topics of loss, death anxiety, transitions, and grief.

  • Laura Good, MSW Intern

    Laura (she/her) is a MSW student intern in her final year at Portland State’s School of Social Work. She works with adolescents and adults impacted by grief and loss, life transitions, trauma, anxiety, and depression. Laura uses compassion and humor to create a supportive space where clients can be vulnerable and work towards healing and growing in their true, authentic selves. Her work is systems-based and incorporates narrative, mindfulness, self-expression, and skill-building. Laura will be working with clients from September through June, when she graduates with her MSW degree.

  • David Hopper, MSW Intern

    David (they/them) is a MSW student intern in their final year at Portland State’s School of Social Work. They practice from a critical liberation perspective and are interested in providing therapy through the lens of internal Family Systems (IFS) work. They support teens and adults clients and enjoy work with queer and trans folks, people involved in social change-making, and folks who experience neurodivergence, disability, and /or depression. David will be working with clients from September through June, when they graduate with their MSW degree.

  • Jack Marvin, MSW CSWA

    As a member of the LGBTQI+ community, Jack (they/she) is an inclusive advocate with a passion for serving students who identify as queer and trans- community members in their growth and well-being. Jack also supports families and parents navigating their young person's coming out experience. Their additional work includes working with people navigating relationship conflict, anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief and loss, gender dysphoria, and traumatic experiences.

  • Steven Balshem, LCSW

    Steven (he/him) works in high school and middle school settings, supporting adolescents and families navigating mental health challenges in school settings. Steven offers an empathetic and non-judgmental space to share and feel heard. He supports teens who experience anxiety, depression, ADHD, and who are impacted by trauma. As a Korean-American, adopted individual, Steven brings attention to identity development centered in race and ethnicity for BIPOC clients navigating experiences with racism and discrimination.

  • Natasha Freudmann, MSW Intern

    Natasha (she/her) is a MSW student intern in her first year at Portland State’s School of Social Work. She supports students in elementary, middle, and high schools and enjoys finding ways to connect with students experiencing social or academic difficulties at school.
